Default New To Forums, not to the Net, BUT... I have many questions !

Hello one and all,

I am not new to the Net or to assisting people with their situations although, I am rather out of practice. I have been a Sysop, Co-Sysop for the IRC many years ago before the Web. Later, before and after the Web was created I Hosted, Moderated Forums, assisted with other more technical issues on a one on one basis. Today, I am more of a User that is still helping others when I can but some but much of the technology is leaving me in the dust.

I belong to both forums (Gnutella and LimeWire) and I should have been posting sometime ago. I still am a bit puzzled as to where I am to Place and Post my machine's introduction so I guess it will be below this post or in this post.

Yes, I am having issues that make little sense to me with the broadband fluctuation(s) and yet the <www.speedcheck.net> reports that I am doing okay but that might not be fast enough. LimeWire (LW) acts up often. It disconnects. It looses information. The bandwidth seems to stop for periods of time and then start again sometimes or I quit it and start over again.

I love the ThunderBird and the FireFox and I still use the Safari at times.

Is there a different bandwidth between AT&T Yahoo and DslExtreme? I am planning to go with the latter as AT&T has been the most difficult company I am ever deal with as an ISP and with the regular landline phone connection.

Does anyone have positive information about PhonePower, a VoIP? at <http://www.phonepower.com/>

Both of the companies above use AT&T as their DSL connection but as far as the customer goes, we no longer have to deal with their contracts and services which are pricey. I am not advertising but stating a fact. I require a system, the ISP and the Phone up and running without daily or weekly problems.

My Machine Profile follows in my next post. OH Great! AT&T is offline again!

Thanks you in advance,

Thomaswolfus
