Hi Everyone, I have a question (scammed)

Hello everyone..
I have just purchased Limewire from the correct site which was billed on my Visa (LimewireLLC). BUT on the same date on my Visa there is also a $73.26 charge from .. MyMusicBill.com. Can anyone tell what MyMusicBill.com is? Have I been scammed for $73.26? Thank you, Gibs

birdy December 2nd, 2007 08:34 PM

LW basic is free, LW Pro costs $21.95 for 6 months worth of free updates & email support or $34.95 for a year's worth. The only official site for download of either version is Lime Wire » Official Website & Free Download, BitTorrent «
Buying Pro from the official site shows up as payment to LimewireLLC on your credit card statement.

So, it sounds like you've been scammed. Contact your CC company & report this, you might be able to get your money back. Good luck:)

mymusicbill.com

I'm from Australia and I was scammed on 17 January 2008 by mymusicbill.com too. I paid around $99.00 Australian for a Lifetime whatever thinking it was an Apple site.

I looked around the site for three hours, found it completely useless and,
following instruction to ask for refund within 7 days, did so next day.

They say allow between 10 to 12 days for refund. It is now 9 days but I believe I've been scammed.

music tone January 26th, 2008 10:51 AM

I say just hold on for 3-5 more days and you will know if you got scammed.

gibs January 29th, 2008 09:14 AM

I would wait for the days they told you to wait for to get the refund, and t
if nothing happens, call your credit card company and reported it as a Scam. The bank did a research on Mymusicbill.com, and credited my account back with the money. This is surely a scam..

I have been scammed by this mymusicbill thing for $88.78 when trying to order Google 2008. Will contact bank.

Mymusicbill.com

My bank is helping me and whether I get a refund or not they say they will get to the bottom of it. Would love to find out WHO they are and which nationality....whatever nationality/nationalities the group comprises, they probably have a US ISP.

GeoEmm February 15th, 2008 12:28 PM

This is a follow-up. I telephoned the number that pappy7752 provided and immediately told the agent that the call was being recorded at my end. She asked for my name or phone number, I gave neither but rather the Order ID. She called it up and still asked for my name to confirm. I refused to give it to her and asked her what name she got. It was my first name but a totally different and unknown last name. Then she said she would try it again. Then she strangely could give my address but still not my last name! I said mymusicbill.com goes nowhere, she said it should redirect to something called marketbill.com . She also talked about my now being with mysoftwareprovider.com . I told her she has my money and I have access to nothing. I instructed her that neither of those alternate websites is mentioned on my receipt and that the receipt has no reply email or phone number, not even, of course, for her mymusicbill.com. She had to get off the line and then came back to tell me all but the $9.95 will be refunded within 5-10 business days. She asked for an email address to send the confirmation (but wait, an address which she should have already had!) I gave her an alternate one. I could go on but you get the picture. I am still going to the bank with this, at its invitation. And I will not say what legal action is underway because this posting is where mymusicbill.com can see it.

GeoEmm February 19th, 2008 04:04 PM

Refund but not finished

Maybe it was my announced recording of them on the phone but it turns out musicbill.com, which supplied no useable downloads of the product purchased, nor any workable links or return email addresses, refunded all but their $9.95 -- the same day I called them even though they said it would take 5-10 business days.

But if everybody gives up there, nothing will happen. There's the other $9.95, which is possibly if not probably that outfit's bread and butter. My financial institution advised me to block the debit card, which we did. They cut up the plastic and they may provisionally refund the $9.95 in lieu of contacting the company, themselves.

The inconvenience of my now having to reassign other accounts away from this debit card will be a small one -- if it's the only one that results from this, which is another question.

I am usually a too mild-mannered, easy sell. But this is a wake-up call.

breezeaire February 19th, 2008 08:51 PM

Just got scammed too

While searching for google earth using google tool bar there were 3 top links, first was really google the other two were scam city, billed as mymusicbill.com. Looked really legit. How can they use Googles name like that?

I never completed the transaction, or so I thought. There was that last check you need to do that says you read their agreement, I never checked it or signed on. Called credit card co. right away to report this and get card blocked.

We all need to call google for even allowing this to pop up on their search engine and for them using their name.

pappy7752 February 19th, 2008 10:55 PM

if any one wants to file a class action lawsuit against mymusicbill.com,mysoftwareprovider.com,& makketbill.com,you can count me in.meanwhile i am going to contact all major search providers about these scamming jerks.keep in cotact. yours truly,pappy7752

breezeaire February 20th, 2008 10:30 AM

I filled out a complaint at this website below, hope it helps. I also called google to let them know, not sure if they were interested to know their name is part of a scam. I also tried calling the call center at 888-846-9590 to try and get this taking care of without doing a charge back but I was told their computer is down for that company and for me to call again next day.

Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3)

GeoEmm February 20th, 2008 10:56 AM

They are scamming everybody for their $9.95, at minimum. My recommendation is to be assertive, do not answer ANY of their questions, and give them only the order ID number they gave you. That is ALL they should have to know. They refunded $78 of my $88 immediately and the other $9.95 is now in the hands of my credit union

GeoEmm February 20th, 2008 12:13 PM

Is there a mymusicbill.com?

Not a good sign here, friends:

Re MYMUSICBILL.COM, Bank still pursuing, and will let you all know what happens, I expect another few weeks. These scammers are probably Russian. Anyone any thoughts about whence these horrors emanate?

Lord of the Rings February 21st, 2008 07:04 AM

download.com have for some time allowed scam versions of programs to be listed on their pages. I stopped trusting their site 2-3 years ago. They allow anybody to list programs & do their own reviews. Once upon a time download.com were the ones who did the reviews (unless I am mistaken). My browser gets hit with security issues everytime I go there also. A total loss of respect for their site. I hope as you say they do do something about their scam listings. I made complaint a few years ago, I don't believe anything was done.

There are definitely scam sites in countries such as russia. But also in other countries including the usa. The ones in USA often move & change name after 6-12 months. They often also have several sites up under different names, but same owners. They take your money & run (when the authorities start to get close to them.)

I noticed the .RU when I was in credit card payment area. This is when I did not check their box that says I agree to their terms/agreement. Because googles name was all over the place I put my guard down and overlooked the web pages were not even secured, sure they claim to be.
I hope others will file complaint with link I posted previously. Well its time to call again to see if they can find my info to cancel purchase.

donovanii February 22nd, 2008 10:30 PM

my softwareprovide.com is a rip-off scam

I too let my guard down today and got scammed by what I thought was a legit site. I got there phone number for the site from my debit card online account. Any way I called them and I should get my money back less the $10 "service charge". The "customer service" lady told me they were located in Portugal which is another internet place for ripping off people like russia. Once posted I think I won't wait for them to credit my account but print out your experences, go to the bank with this info to get all my money back plus change my account number. Man what a scam. Lastly I'll complain to my state attorney office of consumer protection. Buyer beware.....

Scammed

As others I let my guard down. Have never been scammed before and knew straigh away when I noticed the additional charges on top of what I thought. I immediately called my credit card services company and had a fraud alert put on my card. I also have the 1-888 number referred to in an earlier post.

Grrrrrrrrrr!!

breezeaire February 24th, 2008 08:28 AM

I hope more of us fill out form on the internet crimes web site, it might help getting them shut down.
And if more of us called Goggle maybe they would stop accepting sponsored links from this bogus company.
I noticed one of the sponsored links has been replaced with a new website selling same thing. If you go to the main home page this same company is selling all sorts of software links to FREE programs. Makes me sick.

Grrrrrrrrrr!!

Called the customer services number this morning and got a full refund (except the 9.95 fee). I will be more careful in future.

breezeaire February 26th, 2008 08:59 AM

I just called Google again. He said he is aware of this bogus company pretending to be Google. I asked him why they would allow sponsored links from a fraudulent site.
He says they are not, that if you know how to do it you can get links under sponsored shaded area... wtf you have got to be kidding me.

Any way I got 9.95 back too, canceled the card and will not ever trust google searches again. Looks like yahoo has them too.
