new and disappointed

Hi to all. I just paid for Pro and then found I could have gotten it for free. But that's okay because now I can't get it anyway. I have no idea why. Maybe I should have stuck with the free version. Anyway, I turned off my firewalls to see if that would help getting Pro...but it didn't help. Now I'm at the library because my computer won't boot.

I could use a little help. My computer is a Compaq Presario 5320 with Home XP. I'm going home to see if I can do a system recovery. I don't know what it means, but the IDE DPS Self-Test came up with this:
