I live near Toronto in Canada and play Second Life as my main online activity. My hobby is songwriting - i have a nice modest recording studio and want to try and use limewire to send some larger files (track bundled recording tracks) p2p to a friend in Dubaii who i write with.

Just a thought... Why not try using Skype instead ?
Might be a lot easier and faster if you're wishing to send/receive files with only one person.
Skype isn't the only option, just very easy to use for direct connects.
I'm sure others will come in here with other suggestions as well...

Forgot to say that if you do use Skype for file transfers...
DON'T talk at the same time !!!
If you have an active conversation at the same time as doing a file transfer, the transfer will be MUCH slower !
