Hello and HELP!!! (LW won't open)

I just installed Pro v. 5. When I open, it says, Scouring NYC for Limes..., Squeezing Limes..., opens Setup, and promptly closes. I have permitted LW in AVG anti-virus program and Windows XP Firewall, have uninstalled and re-installed several times...same result. What to do???

Hello. I am having the same problem. I have LimeWire Pro 5.1.3. It gets to the squeezing lime parts, finishes, flashes, and then closes. I appreciate all the help from the fixing Lime Wire Posts, but I have tried everything with no success.

I have Windows XP. I have uninstalled Java and LimeWire...saved offline versions of LimeWire and Java to Desktop, ran crap cleaner, installed offline version of Java 6, rebooted computer, installed offline version of LimeWire. I changed compatibility mode to Windows 2000, and tried Run As. I am the administrator on the computer and I do not have the Alcohol Software on my computer.

Any Suggestions???? thank you.

Is there a possibility of a security program on your computer that is preventing LW opening? Such as a spyware program or such. Some are not p2p program friendly & even when LW does not have spyware ... some say it does & stops them opening. Answer would be to put LW on its safe list.

Also, have you attempted running LW in a different account to see if it opens. Perhaps set up a test account. This might help show if the issue is account related.

I presume you tried deleting your LW preferences folder?

Did you upgrade to LW 5 from LW 4 or is LW 5 your first version? :)

Another alternative would be to downgrade back to LW 4. If you decide to do this, we'd highly recommend LW 4.16 rather than 4.18.

Thanks

Hi, thank you for your quick response.

The Lime Wire application is allowed on our firewall settings. I have deleted the preference folder for the new and older version of lime wires that were installed on the computer.

I created a test user administartor account and downloaded LimeWire 5.1.3 and it works on the test account.

Any ideas on why it won't work on the inital administrator account? It's actually my parents computer, and they like to just have one account. My dad's okay with having two if he has to, but I'd like to know if there is a way to make it work on the previous existing account?

Thank you again for your help and quick response!! Very Much Appreciated!! :aweof:
