![]() GOD i NEED HELP. i am a user from cetral california and used limewire pro for a long time, then stopped for a while, and suddenly it stopped working... not sure about whatever i may have done to the old pc at that time. live in the woods can barely see the ocean down the canyon love to listen to old rock music and classical. Thanks for this forum. Windows firewall is disabled, virus protection is disabled, and don't know what could be doing this but suspect my Uniden WRN2004 router. Just changed from "automagic" to Static IP, but no dice yet... will keep checking. |

![]() Hi shopdoc, ![]() Are you having a connection problem with LW? Try the fixes here: If LW Will Not Connect (click on the blue link) If LW just stopped connecting all of a sudden, first things to try are deleting/replacing the gnutella.net file & deleting LW's preferences folder. Otherwise, go through the rest of the fixes. If you're still stuck, please post back with your system details ![]() |

![]() Hi, Birdie: thanks for the prompt reply. My system is: Gateway Multimedia PC with 1.5GB RAM, 700 GB main drive with 500+GB free, 2.19GHz AMD 64 bit cpu, Windows XP ServicePack3. I access the internet via a local ISP using 384KBps DSL and a Uniden WRN2004 wireless router (the pc is hard-connected). I was not using the windows firewall originally but Limewire reported one anyway. Probably the router? I enabled the windows firewall and it automatically set up an exception for limewire. I followed the instructions for setting up the router to allow transmissions through port 6436, then set up limewire to listen and send on that port. no clue what to do next. I am using Limewire Pro ver 4.9.30 and Java 1.6.0_11. I get no "messages" from LW. it just stis there saying "starting connection"... Still no love. and Limewire still says it sees a firewall. Any ideas? incidentally, Limewire does not recognize me as a valid user though I paid for the software and does not have a record of my username and email that they had when I bought it. I am reluctant to upgrade if it won't work. |

![]() Don't race out & buy another Pro!! ![]() Your version of LW's pretty old, but I just fired up my 4.9.30 Pro & it connects fine. Have you been through the fixes in this link? If LW Will Not Connect First thing I'd try is replacing your gnutella.net file. Next thing I'd try is deleting LW's preferences folder. After that, go through the other fixes & see if anything helps. Did you set up a static IP address for your computer, before you set up port forwarding for your router? And did you use these instructions: Port Forwarding for the Uniden WNR2004 There's a link within those instructions for setting up a static IP address. You need to do that first, before port forwarding. LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within your router setup must all be the same number ![]() 4.9.30 was released in 2005... if you bought Pro around that time then your Pro benefits expired long ago!! So your email address won't be in LW's database any more & you're not eligible to download free Pro updates. Back then, buying Pro entitled you to 6 months worth of free updates & email support. |

![]() Thanks so much, Birdy. I did all those things, to no effect. BUT when I loaded the freeware version of Limewire it connected right away. ![]() It is good to be online again, but it seems the community is not as active as it used to be. shopdoc. |
