Intoduction & problem with connecting Limewire 4.1.18

Hello everyone. I am new to this forum. I have Limewire 4.1.18 that I have been using for a long time. I have never had problems with getting a connection in the past. I use Windows Vista. All of my 3,000+ songs are still in my library, but I cannot do a search because it says "still connecting". I am not as comp. savy as most on here, but I need your help. I have no idea what happened, because I have never had a problem. Was wondering if something got removed by an adaware type program. So hello to my new friends here.......please help, it is greatly appreciated. I'm not worthy!! :aweof:

Try replacing the gnutella.net file; listed at bottom of this post If LW 4 Will Not Connect (click on the blue link)

Unable to connect LW 4.1.18

Thanks for your support. It worked, and I am up and running again. Have a great day and thank you for taking the time to assist me.:xirokrotima:

Mine did not work because I had 2 firewalls running and it would not allow it through. I had to go in and select Limewire to be allowed through.

So it's ok now? Yes .. with most p2p sharing programs, only one firewall should be used. And for that matter, often one firewall clashes with another resulting in less security, not more. ;) And making an exception for LW in the firewall you decide to use is a must. :)

Well, it is not working again....ugh. It was working fine last night after I shut off the one firewall I know of and removed other software that essentially does the same. I actually have the first of the bars in connected on, but it says "still connecting" if I try to search. Any other ideas? If I were to upgrade to the current LW 5 that is available will that wipe out my 4000 songs. Please help.....:shoot:

I am getting frustrated and thinking about uninstalling LW and reinstall new, but I have a large collection of music that I want available to others...4000 songs. Any ideas. I have never had problems in two years on LW, so I am lost on what to try. Thanks.

Did you replace the gnutella.net file as LOTR suggested? Or try any of the other fixes here? If LW 4 Will Not Connect (click on the blue link)

If you've tried all fixes & still need help, please give us your details: System details - help us to help you -> Provide these details when you post!!!

Normally you shouldn't lose any saved files if you update LW.
Have you changed the location for saving from LW's default (tools > options > saving will show you where files are saved)? Some people have ended up saving files to LW within Program Files - in that case saved files would be lost if LW was updated. Not a safe place at all for saving;)

So just check your saving location to make sure.
