Sharing Notification

I am running Limewire Basic Version 2.9.4 on an older SE Graphite gray all-in-one IMAC ( OS 9.2). Does the sharing notification down at bottom left corner indicate the number of files available to be shared, or the number of files being downloaded from me while it is actually in the process? If it is the latter, than am I right in believing I will not know that my shared folder is accessible unless 1) I happened to witness the notification go from "sharing 0 files" to "sharing 1 files" ( number may vary ) or catch it at some point in the act of the download. or 2) I go into preferences and confirm the setting for sharing? This seems a bit ambiguous to me. I thought if I had 99 files in my shared folder and made it accessible to other peers on the network, the notification would read "sharing 99 files". This way I would not know if any are being downloaded from me at any given moment, but I would know how many I am offering at any given moment. Did this ever change in later versions?

Hi JAGSEV,

I'm a Windows user but maybe some info is still good :)

Versions as old as yours won't run on my comp as they need Java 1.3 which is no longer available for download.

The oldest version I have saved is 4.8.1. I don't know whether the info will be the same as for your ancient version.

In 4.8.1 the number of files being shared shows beneath connection quality as in my screenshot. That's the number of files that you've allowed to be shared with others (ie number of files in LW's shared folder). Shared files has nothing to do with numbers of uploads. Your number of shared files just indicates how many files on your HDD you're sharing with other people... not how many have been downloaded by other people.

Uploads should show somewhere else.
Do you see a Monitor tab at the top of LW's interface? In 4.8.1, clicking on the Monitor tab shows uploads/downloads in progress. If you don't see a Monitor tab then try clicking on View > Show/Hide > click Monitor so that there's a tick beside it.

In LW's options > uploads > basic do you see an option to 'auto clear completed uploads'? In Windows, clicking on the View tab shows up/downloads in progress but unless you have LW's options set to save that info per session, once up/downloads are completed then you may not see them.

Your version is so old that I really don't know what kind of options you'd see. And I'm not sure how well it would be functioning any more or many Gnutella users you'd be able to connect to with that version... just for example any LW versions past 4.17.4 won't allow connections to versions older than 4.14.
Would you like to try a later version of LW for OS 9?

Our Mac user is on holidays now but I can try to help anyway.
