Question (how can i increase the number of ultrapeers in lw) Hello everybody and thanks for accepting me i am a new member from iran and i have a question.:) i am using of Gnutella 0.6 on windows, limewire 5.3.6, and ADSL internet. i want to know how can i increase the number of ultrapeers in limewire? please help me. thank you. |
Depends on which version of LW you are using. There is a default of 3 ultrapeers to connect to for basic users & 5 for pro users. If you are running in ultrapeer mode you can connect to many more. To become an ultrapeer, you must not have any firewall issues. For LW 5, go to Tools menu -> Advanced Tools, & see what the message says about any firewall. Becoming an ultrapeer is up to the network & what it requires at the time. If it needs more then it will seek those that are behaving well enough to become ultrapeers. Also, Tools menu -> Options -> Advanced -> SuperReallyAdvanced, Performance, & make sure Ultrapeer mode is not disabled. By default it is not disabled. The longer you are connected to the network the better chance of becoming an ultrapeer. How to know if you are running as an ultrapeer? Advanced Tools menu is one method, it will show how many connections. |
hello dear lord now i am an ultrapeer but i need to increase the number of ultrapeers, i want to know is there any way to increasing the number of them such as increasing the TTL,...? |
Does it say you are an ultrapeer in the advanced tools window? You are not actually an ultrapeer until the network designates you as one. You cannot yourself click a button & it automatically happens. How many connections do you see in the connection window? http://www.gnutellaforums.com/limewi...pro-basic.html |
thank you very much. :) |

Ultrapeers are users that you connect to in order to search. To become an ultrapeer, users need to have a reasonably fast connection & not be firewalled. Here's an explanation (click on link): GnuFU en - Gnufu And another one: Ultrapeers - LimeWire Advanced Tools shows you which hosts you're connected to: if your status is a leaf then it shows which UPs you're connecting to, if your status is ultrapeer it will show you which other UPs (shows as peers) & leaves (people who might have a slower connection, shorter uptime or a degree of firewall) that you're connected to. If your status is a leaf then it can be useful to see which UPs you're connecting to... some UPs are 'bad' & connecting to those will result in seeing more spam results. So, being able to disconnect from those hosts can result in seeing better results. See this post (click on link)for more info: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/351053-post3.html |
