Default Movie sub-titles

Just downloaded my first video from LimeWire ([Check the rules]). Played it on my DivX Player and it worked perfectly....however movie has German sub-titles??
How do I get rid of them?

Depends if they are fixed into the video itself. If yes, nothing can do about them afaik. Have you tried VLC & it's option to set sub-titles or language? VLC - (click on link)

Also some burner programs will give you option of removing subtitles etc. if they are not fixed into the video itself but are options only.

I tried VSL and same result. My plan is to stream this video to my tv by using my LG BlueRay Player...maybe the player can shut off sub-titles?

If VLC cannot do it, I'd doubt it. I suspect it's actually embedded across the video itself due to the way in which it was converted by the uploader. Some people have no idea how to do these things (converting) properly unfortunately. Such are people who do not read manuals that come with their converter software.

if there are extra files associated with the flick, then simply move them from the directory where the video resides...the only file you 'need' is obviously the .avi file...if the .avi file is the only one in the directory then the subs are hard coded into the flick and there is no way to remove them unless they fall into a totally black area of the screen which could be dealt with by blacking over the subs (a bit of work to do, but possible)
