Just to say Hi

Hi everyone

Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm a long time Limewire user but a bit green about all the Torrent stuff. I hope to learn more from the forums.

Cheers

Ian

Greetings geminian169,

Welcome to the Gnutella forums!

Here's a Beginners Guide to torrents.

LW is limited when it comes to downloading torrents. You will get much better results with a true torrent client such as Vuze or uTorrent (both are free).

Vuze???

Ok so thanks for the reply but not really relevant to my problem. i have tried Vuze and i get substantially less results per search than i do with Limewire. how so?
I need to know why Limewire loads 10111 files when I have 20052 files available.

Well, I responded to what you wrote:

As to fewer search results, Vuze, like LW, has a built-in search feature that is rather limited as to how far it will search. I never use that feature. Instead, I use my browser to visit a few sites that search for torrents on multiple networks, which is how I was able to find files that LW could not.

Sorry, I don't know. I have read that there is good reason to limit the number of files one shares via LW, but I don't know if it still applies. (LW used to warn users when their shared files exceeded 1,000.) Perhaps others can comment on this.

I'd like to help but I think we would all need more info. Did you have Limewire basic before you paid for pro? If so they should have sent you the activation code when they received payment and you should be able to upgrade from Limewire
