Since Limewire does not offer a lifetime membership you have been scammed and should try to obtain a refund (your credit card company may help). LW Basic is free.

Personally, I like lime-wire. I assumed they had the proper protection from the free speech Dogma. I hear others concerning Lime-wire. Previously the payment was taken from lifetime members on a yearly basis. The perks from that bring more than others of the same beat. Virus check, faster downloads, good tech. etc

It appears LIME/Gordon are shedding their skin and opening their different organization under variations of the old name.
Hardly surprised if they will try to go this as a "new beginning", shunning the folks who kept this place as a monetary draw. As a good business owner would do, honor all money contractions in place the day before they were shut down.

LimeWire never had a 'lifetime' membership. Originally it was 6 months Pro support. Then 2-3 years ago they increased this to 12 months support option.

But last I read, yes it does appear that to keep the company itself afloat, they are considering going down the same road as BearShare & iMesh who also sold out to the RIAA. ie: a program that will not even run on Gnutella network but a commercial network instead.

The Gnutella community is still here. There's still Gnutella programs to use. Still versions of LW you can use. Still versions of other Gnutella programs you can use. Not as many actively developed gnutella programs as there used to be. FrostWire & Phex are two. There is an adaption of the old BearShare program being developed.
