You have quite a choice of clients for Windows :)

LimeWire Pirate Edition

Phex

FrostWire

BearShare

Morpheus

Shareaza

Which client people think is best depends on whether they like the interface, ease of use, options etc. :)

I've never used Morpheus or Shareaza but have used LimeWire, BearShare & FrostWire. I currently use File_Girl71's release of LW Pirate Edition

The LPE not connecting? Might be an idea to post your system details here: Connection Problems ... after trying out http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...-you-post.html

Edit: Oops at least that applies to jmccwill. Upon re-reading, I didn't realise it was a different member who had specified an issue.

In general, LimeWire Pirate Edition will do what you wish it to.

Whilst it's still possible to use the older LW versions, you will need to do various things to help it connect.

There are also older clients not mentioned by Birdy you could use, however, some have not been updated for a few years to cater for newer issues.

I am going to use the girl71 version. I am already using java for Vuze. I suppose I do not have to download it again, right?
Thanks very much for the help.

I now have LW installed and have the following questions:
1. I have been using Vuze. Do I now need to move all my present torrents to LW or can I keep using Vuze? Or do I need to move to LW only torrents where I want anonymity?
thanks again.
2. Willl the torrents in LW only be accessible to LW users or are they accessible to any P2P user?

1. You can keep using Vuze while LW is installed. You don't need to move torrents. Note, using LW does not make you anonymous.

2. What is accessibe to other users is determined by what you designate as your "shared" directory. I believe you can have LW and Vuze save to the same directory. (Partial downloads in LW will be sent to Incomplete).

To avoid conflict you should designate one program to handle torrents (I recommemd Vuze, as LW is limited in its ability to handle torrents).

Then I have totally misunderstood the situation. I thought LW was a client for the Gnutella network that is meant to be an anonymous P2P network. Where did I go wrong?
Thanks.
