Default Trouble installing 5.6.6.6

I have tried numerous times to install Ver 5.6.6.6 and it doesn't work. I get as far as language selection, then it says version 5.6.4.2 exists, click ok to remove previous version and continue. I click ok then nothing happens. What is wrong? I am using windows 10.

Make sure that WireShare is not running by checking in Task Manager; Ctrl+Shift+Esc or ctrl+alt+del
You cannot install if the program is still running, possibly in background or even within another log-in account.

If this does not find anything or does not solve the problem let us know. There's other things you could try.

I tried your suggestion and even tried after a reboot with nothing else running, but it didn't work. Any other suggestions?

First thing to try:
Right-click the WireShare installer and then click Run as Administrator.
Does this fix the issue? If not then see below:

1. Open the Control Panel and choose Uninstall a Program. Select WireShare and proceed.

2. Download and install CCleaner (free). Do a clean, then click the Registry tab to use that function. CCleaner can be trusted and we have recommended it for almost 15 years. The Registry is where installation issues often occur. An alternative or second option is microsoft.support: Fix problems that block programs being installed/removed (Windows 7 to 10 only.)

3. Install WireShare via 'Run as Administrator'.
