There are no dumb questions only dumb answers.
You get the latest version of limewire from the limewire website. you have to download the whole thing again - as far as I know there is now update service.
If you want the cutting edge you can get the source and compile it yourself but this seems a bit off.
For right now download the latest version from the limewire.com website.
by default it uses another program folder than the prior version so you might keep the old version.
the library will not be deleted by default. just to be sure you can move it to another folder like your 'my documents' folder. to do this open the windows explorer and go to C:\Program Files\LimeWire
There should be a 'shared' folder. click and hold your left button on the folder now drag it to the new location like the 'my documents folder'. it should be moved there.
when you start LimeWire again you have to select the _new_ location as your shared and saving folder. if the wizard does not ask you, you have to go to the tools menu- select options- select saving from the left hand list- enter your new saving folder- select sharing from the left hand list and add the new location and remove the old one.
that should be it.
