This might not be the answer you are looking for, but you might have to go through the hassle and remove it manually.

Or, if available you could use a 3rd party "uninstall" program to get rid of it and then check to see if anything was left behind.

Default cant uninstall

Thank you, I have a program on my computer and will try to uninstall it. If you are familiar with Limewire, and you have it and upgrade it, can I just upgrade it and put it over the existing program? Thank you again.

You can install a newer version of LimeWire without uninstalling previous versions. This allows you to revert to previous versions if you don't like the changes in the new version or if the new version is unstable on your set-up.

But the old version is still there. If you cannot uninstall using the Add/Remove software option from control panel (Microsoft doesn't support this anymore because they could never get it to work reliably) - then you can find the files using windows explorer or similar and delete them from there. The usual install path is:

Program Files/LimeWire

All the versions and your shared files are under here by default so don't just delete the whole thing.

So *nothing* gets installed to the registry with a Limewire installation? How can I be sure that removing what's in the Program Files directory gets rid of everything?

I just searched through the registry, and it seems that the only thing that gets written to the registry is the uninstall information. This means all you should have to do is delete the program directory and any shortcuts on the start menu or desktop. You will still have Limewire listed in the Add/Remove programs list, but if you try to remove it again it should say something like "This program is no longer installed on the machine. Would you like to remove it from the Add/Remove Programs List?" Then you just click on 'yes' and it should remove it. I haven't tried this, but, like I said, it should work. Worst case scenario, Limewire will be gone, but you'll still have it listed in the Add/Remove programs list.

Also, if it doesn't remove itself from Add/Remove programs, there are programs out there that will remove these entries for you.
