Same issue with the error message on a system with a "clean install" of Windows 98 Second Edition and running only the Limewire 2.5 program. However, you can close the "illegal operation" Javaw message provided no file downloads are in progress.
Sure I can just ignore the error message, but my customers don't like new computers that generate any error messages.
