Error 1628 - possible solution
 

Like many Windows users, I had this error when I tried to install the 2.5 MB version of the client from CNET on my Win98 system.

What worked for me was downloading the 9.6 MB international version available here:

http://www.limewire.com/index.jsp/download

Beats me why that would make a difference, but there you have it. :rolleyes:

I too had an install problem with Limewire 2.5.5 (Pro). When it was first posted I downloaded it right away... during installation it hung up during the removal of the old software, I re-booted and tried again with the same results. Later in the evening I downloaded the 2.5.5 again and the install went without any problems... I suspect that there was a problem when it was first posted but was fixed quickly...

I'd tried everything on a cranky system to get the program to install, but always got the 1628 error. I'd even re-installed Win-98!

Using the Multi-Language version, it installed without any problem. Just a note - the installer works different than the 2.5MB version, and was written with different tools.
