Microsoft's Virtual Machine and Limewire

Whew, I am not a happy camper tonight. I downloaded the new version of Limewire and started the installation. It told me I needed java console versionsion whatever it is (My old 2.55 version of limewire worked without no problem and YES it was installed on my system) so I clicked on yes install it again.

All installation works fine and I get the new version set up. I now go to my own java enabled website to check out a few things and I am told that I do not have Microsoft's Virtual Machine anymore and my own website will not run properly. What the HECK! Limewire and Java Console deleted my VM! (or at the least rendered it useless) I do not like using java console for my web browser. Its sloppy, my java applets are not smooth and and my photo slide show is jerky with the console.

I want my VM back. I go to microsoft website and they say its only available in the new service pack 1. Alright, I download the service pack and still no VM. What do I do now?

Limewire and or Java Console has deleted my VM so now how do I get it back and or if I actually have it, start it running again? I am clueless here, and pretty mad.

Well, Black Sheep I know what I saw. What transpired happened in this sequence and only minutes apart.

1) I downloaded the new program, and it told me that I did not have the Java plugin installed (I did, because the old version of Limewire would not run with out it and I installed it while I installed 2.5.5 version) The old version ran just fine.

2) After installing (minutes after installing) I went to "add/remove programs" to check if I still had an old version of Limewire listed on my system. I did, and I uninstalled the old version.

3) After assuming everything was done to my satisfaction I started surfing the web (like 10 minutes from installation to this point) and the first page I went to was my own webpage since I have updated news that I wanted to read and BOOM the IE browser reported that I had to download VM because I was not java enabled.

I had been on the internet literally 5 hours yesterday with no problems and in a matter of 10 minutes from installing Limewire to the problems leaves no other way that this could have happened. No other program was installed in that 24 hour time period, and no changes in configuration. I have been using computers sine 1985 and I have a degree in computer science. I am not some fruit cake that assumptions without proof.

I know what happened and the actions that were taken.

Black Sheep,
I had checked to make sure that the java plugin was not operating with IE Explorer when it was downladed and installed. Verified that by going into the Java Console after installation. I had to change that setting to get any java enabled for the browser.

Update: It must have been some screwy config problem. I did not solve it myself, but I noticed an update to IE Explorer 6.0 and downloaded and installed. The update solved the problem and I was able to use VM again instead of the Java plugin.

Thanks for you concern and attempts to help me out, its appreciated, since I did not have a clue how to solve this problem.
