1621:Failed to verify signature of file ISScript.msi

I got this error message after I installed the 2.8 version. Read through the faq, downloaded the "ISScript.msi" file, re-installed but still to no avail. I'm using Windows XP and no previous version of Limewire is installed.

Really appreciate any help. Thanks!

Sid:

Are you running XP Home or PRO?

Are you signed on with administrative privleges?

Hello Norm:

It's a XP Pro and I don't believe that I am signed on as an administrator.
What should I do? Thanks!

Sid:

If you do not have to sign in when you boot the machine you probably do have administrative privledges.

If you do have to sign in with a name and password then go to the sign on screen by going to the start menu and at the bottom select "log off". Now select log on as a different user and in the sign in screen Enter - administrator as name and leave the password blank. Just hit enter without typing anything in password. (I am guessing that a password was never set) If this gets you on the system try to install Limewire and see if it will work. Once you get it installed you will want to log off and back on as you normally do because that is where your desktop and other personal settings are.

I hope this helps.

Norm

Hi Norm!

No, I don't have to sign in. What now?

Norm January 13th, 2003 03:44 PM

You probably have administrative privleges.

If you haven't uninstalled Limewire completely from the Add/Remove programs I think that would be worth a try. Completely uninstall Limewire, reinstall from a fresh download.

I hope that will work for you.

Sid6.7 I agree with Norm... try a fresh install. 2.8.6 beta was just released, you might give that a try.

Well Norm, in the first place Limewire failed the installation so I don't have to uninstall it. But I did get a fresh download, reinstalled and got the same error...again.

Hmm..ran the isscript.msi as well just to be sure and was prompted by 3 choices: Modify script, Repair script and Remove script. I chose "modify" and reinstalled Limewire but installation still failed.
:(

Thanks rutro but I still have to test Limewire's capabilities first before I decide to get the Pro.:)
