Fisk...If you can't fix the free product, why would I buy Pro?

On installation, I get about 90% through and then get

"Limewire Error: error 1714. The older version can't be removed"

and next

"Feature treansfer error: Error 1603. Fatal error during installation. Consult Windows Installation help (msi.chm) or MSDN for more information" Note: this is not Error 1608!!!

As directed in the Limewire FAQ as well as these threads, I have

1) Uninstalled and reinstalled Java Plug-in 1.3.1.07
2) Deleted all registry entires to Limewire (& Kazaa)
3) Removed all files and folders related to these applications
4) Rebooted (several different times)
5) Uninstalled and reinstalled ISScript
6) Attempted installation of Limewire and Limewire Beta, with same errors as above.

??? Any additional additional suggestions. I've got several hours in this and would like to get my system straight and the application running. (e.g. can I get a copy of earlier version to install and uninstall?)

??? If neither Limewire nor Limewire Beta will work, is there any reason that I should expect Limewire Pro to work?

Your computer is broken, buy a new one.

Try the international installer. It uses InstallAnywhere rather than InstallShield which sometimes works better in these cases.

Thanks

Thx for all the help.

Only thing that works is the international installer. I'm now back up and running.

Installed/uninstalled about 10 older versions until found one that generated the errors. Apparently there's a gremlin from an older version that just won't go away.
