I have exactly the same problem (see post just before yours), and so far I haven't gotten any helpful response. If you do, willyou let me know? (sharoncita2000@yahoo.com) And I will do the same.

The search button won't activate until you are connected to the network, and there are lots of reasons connections won't be accepted or are getting blocked. Most of the connections problems/solutions are in the connections forum http://www.gnutellaforums.com/forumd...?s=&forumid=22

Look especially for posts by the LW team --there's hope some new code will help.

In the meantime, if you know the IP and port of a friend running as an Ultrapeer, try entering that number in the connections pane.

Thanks Stief. I found some stuff there that worked. I'm up and running.

Great--if you post what worked maybe that can help others.

Okay, here's the URL, probably the same one Stief posted above.

Here is the post that helped me solve the problem:

Here what I did...

First, the "delete-the-pref-folder" advice did nothing for me.

Steps:

1) Launch Limewire. See the new "Tips" dialog box? DISABLE the
show-tips- at-launch checkbox. Then click "ok" and hope you never
see that box again.

2) Go to LimeWire Preferences and disable the auto-connect at launch
option.

3) Quit Limewire. Then relaunch Limewire. Then manually "connect"
from the menu. Voila!

I surmise that the new Tips box is interfering with the application's
ability to connect!
