Not a reply, but I found a thread entitled 'those having difficulty getting connected', or something like that. I followed a couple fo the instructions, involving
- unticking the tips for today box
- removing the icon on bottom right hand bar............
then.........
turning computer right off and starting upLimewire icon again, then connecting through the file tab.

It worked...think you have to try different stuff.....good luck...let me know how it goes...
