"Your Save Directory Is Not Valid" WHY?!!!

I installed the most recent version of LW. ( Not the beta ) Everything appeared tp be fine until lI went to start running LW for the first time, and I get an error message before it will start. The message says, "Your save directory is invalid. It may have been deleted, you may not have permission to write to it, or there may beanother problem. Choose a different directory. Now I know the directory is not deleted. 'm pretty sure I should have permission to write there. Either way I figured I'd just select another one. The this is It won't let me select another one. I'll click a new one and nothing will happen. I have a ttached a screen shot if you want to see the error message. Please help I really want to start using LW again soon.

Thanks,
Chris:confused:

try reinstalling limewire, to uninstall you go to add/remove programs and uninstall there, than you delete the files, in the limewire folder, which is usually under program files. and the .limewire folder inside of c:/documents and settings.

have you tried fully uninstalling than reinstalling like mentioned above?
were you using the files in there?
did you try changing the folder as the first thing at boot up?

VC88 September 13th, 2004 07:24 AM

Yeah, I've uninstalled and reinstalled LimeWire at least 3 or 4 times and I get the same message. It tells me Save Directory Not Valid; Select Another. When I try to find another file or folder or directory I keep getting the same message in another pop-up. It just won't let me find another directory.

I will try that next. Right now I've uninstalled LW because this has been such a hassle. But thanks for all your help. I'll keep you posted on any progress.
