Question program file disappears

I recently updated to LimeWire 4.0.8 and everything worked great - that is, until I shut my computer down. When I restarted, the program file was missing from the LimeWire folder. I can reinstall or repair LimeWire using the Add/Remove Programs utility, but that gets rather tiresome to do everytime I want to download something. I'm running Windows XP Home. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

OK did you try to search your comp for 'Limewire' using the search function?

Yes, once LimeWire stops working the file is no where to be found. Every once in a while I can restart without it malfunctioning, but it seems if I shut down completely LimeWire no longer works.

Does LW get sent to recycle bin or just out-right deleted? I wonder if it becomes an invisible file. Do you have a shortcut for LW, try that next time & use the shortcut to open the actual LW program (not the folder.)

Which OS version do you have & have there been any recent updates for it? Update to the most recent java.

Restart the computer in Safe mode, try running ScanDisk, anti-av, & other utilities. Scan with Hijack This. Also clean your Temporary Files. Do you have many items on the Quick Launch toolbar (which appears to the right of the Start button)? Clear them for the time being.
