Can't Launch Limewire!!

I purchased PRO 4.0.8 last night and it installed OK but when trying to launch it the hourglass shows for a few seconds and then nothing.

This is on a WinXP system.

I uninstalled Zonealarm, made sure that Windows firewall was turned off, and ran through the procedures for port 6346 and nothing.

Anyone have any ideas ??

TIA

If deleting your LW Prefs doesn't work & your Bug Report test is False, please post back the following details: your OS version, all firewall types you have, connection types including the modem & router brand & model no.'s, & where you'er trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc,)

Installation of .limewire

Thanks for the info but I looked and I don't have a .limewire anywhere on my computer.

My friends who have installed it all have that.

I've tried reinstalling several times but to no avail.

Totally confused!!

Have a look here: C:/Documents And Settings/your_username/.limewire I don't suppose you thought of searching for .limewire

Please answer my previous questions if you want to solve this problem.

Also update your Java! You have 2 choices: Java versions 1.4.x OR Java 1.5 (take the JRE) (click on either of those links.) Java is very important for LW!!! It is made using Java & runs on Java.

Here's some other options to try: 1. Repair LimeWire using the Add/Remove Programs utility
2. Right-clicking the Limewire icon and going to properties and changed compatability setting to Windows 2000.
3. If all these don't succeed, using your control panels, Remove LW & re-install it. You can get another copy by adding your email you registered with HERE.

So to reiterate: Update your Java, delete your LW Preferences folder, Use Repair from Control Panel, & if all those things don't fix it, Remove & Re-Install LW.
