Can't install version 4.2: Internal Error 2235
 

Get an abrupt error a little way into the installation. Pops up a message box with this error:

Internal Error 2235. , Wait, SELECT 'Name','Wait','Arguments','Event', 'Action' FROM 'ServiceControl', 'Component' WHERE '_Component' = 'Component' AND ('Action' = 0 OR 'Action' =1 OR 'Action' = 2)

After clicking OK another one comes up.

Error: -1603 Fatal Error during installation.

I am running Win XP SP2 on a 3.0 GHZ P4, with J2SE RE 5.0 and Java 2 RE SE 1.4.2_04 installed.

Have a look at the error Sticky at the top of the LimeWire (Cross-platform) > Installation > Windows section.

Tried everything that seems remotely sensible, but no dice.

The error looks like some sorta SQL statement, anyone seen anything like this before?

I don't think it's one of the errors that appears too often. My suggestion is to 1st: Update your installshield engines: Installshield updaters
2nd: install Java Java 1.4.x OR Java 1.5 (take the JRE)
3rd: re-dwnld the LW installer (english version) & try re-installing.
4th: if these steps fail. Dwnld & install the International version. It's a larger dwnld but uses a different type of installer. The english one is prefered b/c you can easily change the version of java it uses.

Yup, have done steps 1-4.
