Unhappy nothing happens

i had v4.2.3 working perfectly for a couple of weeks, then my 7 yo did "something" to my laptop (Dell 510m with Xp-2) - end result was a restore and i needed to reinstall almost all apps. Everything else resinstalled fine, except for LimeWire - I used the control panel, etc to try and reinstall - no luck - then removed everything and reinstalled - no luck. have now downloaded and installed v4.2.6 and everthing installs fine, but nothing happens when I start the program - nothing comes up in the task manager either - any ideas?

A no. of things. 1. Update your Java (LW only installs Java 1.3 but needs a later version): http://www.limewire.com/english/cont...radejava.shtml
2. Repair LimeWire using the Add/Remove Programs utility. Go to Control Panel then Add/Remove Programs & click on Limewire on the Change/Remove button & it comes up with options and one of them is Repair. Try this.
3. Right-clicking the Limewire icon and going to properties and changed compatability setting to Windows 2000.
4. Delete your LW preferences folder (this means you'll need to reset your LW options later). It is called .limewire & found here: C:/Documents And Settings/your_username/.limewire
5. Configure your XP firewall & any others you have: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml

Hope it's not as hot up there as it is here!
