No sound since download/install

Submitted this yesterday and got no response..or can't find my thread. Twice emailed to bugs@limewire.com but no response.

Pleaeeeese Advise!

Three days ago I downloaded/installed your limeware software 4.8.1 and immediately following I lost all sound. I downloaded one song then played it, which it seems to be playing, but have no sound. One hour earlier, i had no problem with sound. Speakers not the problem as I plugged them into my laptop and they work fine. Troubleshooted soundcard device/driver and windows says there's no problem there. Tried playing any song using media player, but nothing. Don't even get sound playing directly from a music cd. Next I restored system to the day before, hoping to resolve problem, but not. Still no sound. Even opened my pc to check that sound card hadn't come loose. All looks fine. What could have happened, and how might I correct this, short of buying a new sound card. Current sound card is barely 6 months old! I can't even get any 'windows' sounds, which I tried to do when troubleshooting.

Less than an hour before I downloaded limeware 4.8.1, i was watching (and listening to) a dvd. Sound functioned fine then.

Will appreciate your help!

Might think about checking your sound card settings. Make sure digital audio only is not selected. It looks like a sound card or sound card configuration problem. Which has nothing to do with the program LimeWire.

I've seen this option before, but I've lost my way. Checked every available option under soundcard and can't find this option. Specifically, where might I find it?

Found the option in device manager, but under cdrom device, not sound card. Was not enabled as you suggested it be. Still no sound.

Hard to believe my sound card simultaneously failed just as I installed limeware, but looks like it might have. Bought new card and all works fine.

Thanks for responding!

Okay..new sound card works fine, but now I can not connect to gnutella. Had no problem downloading files when I had lost sound, but now it says limewire is connecting, yet never connects, hence no downloading accomplished. Exited limeware all together and deleted .limeware preference file as someone suggested, but problem still remains. What to do?

Have you configured your firewall(s) to allow LimeWire full access both TCP and UDP. You can follow the instructions here for firewalls. http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml

If that doesn't help please post the information requested in the link of my previous post.
