Odd message came up when trying to install.

I've just downloaded Limewire, and i started to install it. But before the 'installing' screen it says, "An older version of Limewire appears to be running. You must exit the old version before continuing with installation."
This is impossible because we've never ever used Limewire before, and the only download program we've ever used has been WinMX and that was on our old computer. This computer has never had a download program before.
I'm confused?

Hold down contol-delete keys & go to process manager & see what's running. If there's any LimeWire listed then you may have installed it already without realising. I would cancel this action in process manager. Then your LW installer should be able to uninstall LW & reinstall.

Hmmm that does seem odd.

do a ctr-alt-del

This will bring up your Task Manger. Check to see if any instances of limewire are running under the process tab.

Is this comp. New or Used? Are you the original owner?

We got the computer a few months ago, brand new. It's registered in my dads name but me and my brother use it the most. My mum or dad dont really have any reason to put a D/L program on and if they did i would know of it because they'd be clueless of which one to use.
I'll try that ctrl+alt+delete thing, but if that doesnt work i guess i'll just have to get a different D/L program.

Just tried the ctrl+alt+delete thing. As i thought, there is nothing else related to Limewire running other than the Limewire im trying to install. I sent an email through to Limewire last night, but no reply yet.
Think i should just give up on Limewire and try something else?

Sounds like an odd situation. I'd have recommended you install Java & then LW, rather than the other way around. But downld the installers & save to your computer don't install over the net. You can find a link for Java here: Fixes for Limewire If you still have problems then there is an alternative installer I think. You just unzip it & use it. See Here about other version.
