Limewire Problem!!! I can't run it! Fatal Error

Hi, i've been using limeiwre for over a year or two now. I installed limewire again today and each time I want to start Limewire it shows the loading screen, then i get the message if i wanna go pro, i say i don't but behind that message it has another message that says limewire has encountered a fatal error, probably due to a corrupted installation, etc.
I uninstalled it and downloaded it and reinstalled it couple of times again but i keep having the same problem.
when i go to review, I get this message:

COULD PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME?????????????

Masta Jim June 5th, 2005 04:12 PM

I'm getting the EXACT same problem ... probably uninstalled 10 different times and reinstalled from 5 different sites. Any ideas out there??

uninvited guest June 5th, 2005 07:09 PM

I have the exact message after I click review and I'm dealing with the same problem. The only difference is that I have to force quit the program after receiving the error message. I reinstalled limewire 12 times already and each time it's "corrupted".

I had to deal with this in March right before a new version of Limewire was released and it was smooth sailing up until June.

If anyone knows how to handle this problem please respond.

same problem here...

Same problem when trying to start the program...still searching for answer.

Lord of the Rings June 21st, 2005 12:58 PM

Someone posted earlier & said they changed their LW compatibility to windows 2k & it fixed it. This might not fix it for you but it's worth trying; see Fixes for Limewire

Depending on which version of Java you have, it might be worth swapping versions. If you have Java 1.5 then uninstall it using the Add/Remove control panel & then install Java1.4.2 Or if you have 1.4.2 then update to 1.5 (Links for Java can be found in the link above.) Also, don't install Java over the net, downld the installer & save it to your computer 1st & then install it.

I have been having the same problem for a few weeks and sent an email for support and got nothing back. I then followed Lord of the Rings fixes and by deleting the limewire application data folder it now works perfectly. I recommend his thread for fixing this.
Cheers LOTR.

wondering why June 1st, 2006 03:59 PM

You could try updating your Java to 1.5 update 6 and if that fails try the beta version...Make sure you get the JRE and install the offline version...;)
