Blue Screen error on Limewire start

I've got a sudden problem with limewire (tried a few different versions now and uninstalled/reinstalled but with no success)

I run Windows 2000 and the program used to work fine, with no problems. Now, when I double click the icon to start the program, after a few seconds I get a blue screen crash, meaning a reboot. The blue screen reports errors in NV4_DISP.DLL and NTOSKRNL.EXE. I know it's to do with the Java because I get the same blue screen error when opening the JAVA applet in Windows Control Panel.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling both Limewire and the Java, but no luck.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

BSD is generally a hardware issue or drivers of hardware not working correctly. Be that some incompatibility or out of date drivers.

Have a look thru these 1. BSD Read A, 2. - BSD Read B, 3. - BSD Read C, 4. - BSD Read D

Thanks for your reply there. I had a read through those links and tried a few of the suggestions, but none have worked for me. I tried uninstalling my Nvidia Graphics card drivers, then reinstalling but no luck. I've tried numerous times completely removing Java and then re-installing, even tried installing the old 1.4.2 Runtime as suggested on one of those pages, but nothing works. Why should it just 'break'? I changed nothing and there is seemingly no solution.

Cheers

Try these:

1. Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Fixes for Limewire

2. See The way to fix the Blank screen on startup

If, as you say, you USED to run the LimeWire Program with no problem, this should be your first clue. Sometime since you installed the program and the first BSD you did SOMETHING. Rack your brain. Did you install a new driver or piece of hardware. Did you upgrade an installation from, maybe, the Windows update site causing a conflict. Somewhere, somehow, you made a change in the Windows Installation. Does Win2000 support Go Back or Restore??
