Limewire won't go away!

I've been using limewire successfully for months, then out of the blue it started opening every 2 min on its own. I selected the option to not connect automatically, but it made no difference. I tried uninstalling the program, but it doesn't take it completely off. Now I keep getting an error message every 2 min saying that one or more files is corrupted. I re-installed limewire and the problems started all over again and I STILL can't get it off my computer! Can someone tell me how to get this off or get it fixed so it'll only open when I tell it to??
