For some reason Java 1.5 doesn't behave well on everybody's system. I'd suggest in the meantime you uninstall Java 1.5 using your Add/Remove Programs control panel & then install Java 1.4.2 instead. Sun Java 1.4.2: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html (Choose the JRE)
