specifying JRE manually in winxp

I tried to install limewire-full but it doesnt recognize/see my jre(1.5.02). Is there a way (file/registry key to edit) to tell limewire where my JRE is? Tried to find for files or reg keys but i havent found it.

my jre works fine. a lot of my programs use it.

it tried to download the jre but i cancelled it...the insallation finished sucessfully.

the error i get is "limewire could not load the JRE. please download...."

tried uninstall/reinstalling. doesnt work

There is a newer version of java out 1.5.4. LimeWire is trying to install the newer version I believe. If you other apps work fine with your current version they should work fine with the newer version. Also I do not believe your previous version will be uninstalled.

We're trying to run Limewire on a sytem under which we have no administrative privileges. We copied the files from the program install DIR on another machine, but have the same problem as hellspawn_rj - "it doesnt recognize/see my jre". Worse here, we don't have permissions to edit the registry :(
So here's the question, again - Is there a way to tell limewire where my JRE is?

thaNX ;)

maybe they could patch the installer or create a new installer that would automatically find or lets you manually set where the jre could be found.

most java applications that Ive seen finds the jre automatically or if it somehow fails to find it, you can manually set it either in the installation or in a prop or xml file somewhere.

forcing me to download a new java version on install and being able to specify manually or automatically find the jre is just not user friendly.

its recommended to keep up-to-date with limewire aswell as java from sun.

you may want to uninstall your current java installation then go here: http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
and download the windows offline installation

current official sun java: Java Runtime Environment Version 5.0 Update 4
