Pro installation, error message

Hi, I purchased pro from the official website, and got the "personal download page". I downloaded the installer, and when I click the .exe to install, it comes up with an error message saying, "The installer you are trying to use is corrupted or incomplete. This
could be the result of a damaged disk, a failed download or virus.
You may want to contact the installer to obtain a new copy.
It may be possible to skip this check using the /NCRC command line
switch (NOT RECOMMENDED)."

I've tried downloading on two different computers and came up with the same message. I'm running XP pro. I currently have limewire basic, and that works fine. THANKS

I don't have a corrupted installation, I can't even get it to begin installing. The error message says its the limewirewin.exe itself is corrupted, and I've redownloaded it many times.
Thanks

Are you running windows 2000

Lord of the Rings August 28th, 2005 10:04 PM

An easier solution, see Here about other version. Just unzip it & move it to where you want it & use it! Easy as that! No installation necessary! ;) :)

i'm running xp, but when i downloaded the "other" version from the list of operating systems, i somehow got it to work. BUT, that only installed basic for me. I'm trying to get pro to install. Any ideas? thanks

Lord of the Rings August 29th, 2005 09:28 AM

The 'Other' version should also be pro if you downlded it from your personal downld page. It's the last one on the list & has a ? next to it & called: ? Other (OS/2, Solaris, Linux)

tippmann87 August 29th, 2005 10:13 AM

When I download the "other", I get a zip folder. I click the .exe inside that says limewire, and i get an error message saying, "limewire was unable to load. Please download and install limewire again." I found another .exe called limewirestub, i open that, and it install limewire basic.

Lord of the Rings August 29th, 2005 10:32 AM

Where did you find limewirestub?

tippmann87 August 29th, 2005 10:33 AM

it was inside the zip folder that i downloaded

tippmann87 August 29th, 2005 10:34 AM

the limewireother.zip folder

Lord of the Rings August 29th, 2005 10:42 AM

Thank you! :) I've never tried it out myself so was curious about it. Good to hear it solved your installation problem! ;)

tippmann87 August 29th, 2005 10:50 AM

it didnt fix it for me, it only installed basic, not pro

tippmann87 August 29th, 2005 12:04 PM

Could somebody download the installer for me, then send it, I think it's just a corrupted file in my personal download page. I could email my receipt to prove that i really did buy it.

tippmann87: before downloading Pro again, go in the options of internet exploder and clear the cache. Attempt to download again. If it doesn't work, download a real web browser like Firefox from mozilla.org, download Pro and tell us how it goes.

Ciao

tippmann87 September 4th, 2005 03:50 PM

i cleared the cache, and ive tried firefox as a broweser, nothing works

Grandpa September 4th, 2005 04:22 PM

Just one dumb question here is it windows generating the message or is it your anti virus.

And where did you get the zip file whenever I download LimeWire it does not come as a zip file

tippmann87 September 5th, 2005 08:19 AM

windows is giving me the error, and i got the zip file from the "other" choice in the personal download page

Grandpa September 5th, 2005 10:30 AM

That is why I have never seen a zip file. You may want to give the windows install clean up utility a try the link below will take you there. I do not know that it will do you any good and I have never used it so I do not know what the results will be. After you use it try installing The Windows Version of LimeWire again.
