I paid for the pro version of Live wire. When I try to download it a message says my user name is not found. There is no contact info to find out what to do. How do I contact these people.

How much did you pay? Have you used Limewire before? Were you hoping to get Limewire or Live wire? Where EXACTLY did you pay for it?

I paid 52 dollars for reg version and pro upgrade. I googled for winmx.com and it switched me to a site to purchase Lime Wire.So I did and Then I found I did not get the pro upgrade. I'm starting to think there is a site out there charging people for Lime wire. I was not familiar with the site so I bought a subscription. Sorry for the problems and blaming Live wire. I guess I was scammed, but not from lime wire.

Sorry ... you have been scammed. You should get onto you credit card company and try to stop the payment, and more important cancell your card as who knows what else they may try to take off you.

Then go to http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml where you can download LW for free in it's basic form. If you are happy you can upgrade to pro and you will IMHO get better connections and that will cost $18.88 for 6 months of updates and support.

Good luck and apology accepted:) Always be careful before parting with money on the net. Many application companies allow at least a free trial period and Limewire offers more. Don't pay until you're sure!

Purchased pro and it don't work

I recently purchased the upgrade limewire pro for 18.88 and the dang thing will not work at all. I keep getting a message saying

(limewire was unable to initialize and start,This is usually due to a firewall program blocking limewires access to the internet or loopback connections on the local machine.Please allow lime wire access to the internet and restart limewire.)

I have a firewall in my computer but I have limewire added to the allow list,so why will it not work or open up? I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it several times and still nothing.
I have tried emailing tech support and no one will reply,this is starting to really **** me off here. I paid for a upgrade that is crap I should have stuck to the old version at least it worked.And now since I paid for the upgrade it won't even let me put the free version in my computer temporarily til someone contacts me if they ever do.Customer support is really bad,I have emailed several times and have yet to get a reply from anyone,I am ready to ask to be refunded.

What previous version did you have and what pro version did you get

Hmmm don't know which flavor of windows you are using or service pack.

But If it is windowsXP sp2 it has a firewall, and I'm not sure if you have another firewall besides that. It's not good to run 2 firewalls at the same time. They have a tendency to conflict with each other.

Also when you did allow access did you allow access for both TCP and UDP both. This sometimes causes a similar problem.

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. How much ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.

10. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.
11. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.
12. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?

8 I am supposed to have the newest version limewire pro the 4.9 but nothing works.The java I dunno it is the most recently updated version,and everything worked fine before I paid the 18.00 and uninstalled the old LW version like it told me to and downloaded the newest one and installed it.I can't go to LW menu help my software won't open it gives me that message I posted in here about firewall and backlooping or some crap.I even turned off my Firewall and tried to open it and got the samething.

I GOT IT FINALLY!!! I hadto really investigate this problem. I found that I had abad javaprogram in my computer it was missing a file or something from the last updateitdid and wasn't working correctly. SO I removed all the java from my computer and redownloaded the java and my LIMEWIRE PRO is finally working. Thankyou all for being here sorry if I was a pain. Oh and Limewire never did answer my emails or send me the personal download page as of yet. SO I still have that problem because I cannot get my updates still,any help with this is still appreciated.
