spyware even with new limewire?
 

What if i have an older version of limewire, from when spyware was still included? Will the spyware be uninstalled when I update limewire to the newer version that doesn't include spyware? If not, then how DO I get rid of the spyware on my computer? Right now, I have version 4.8.1 and am wondering about upgrading to 4.9.

Where did the Limewire come from?
 

I used the free version of 4.8.1 for months and there was no spyware at all. However, the first time I downloaded it, I downloaded it from one of the scam sites and not from the official www.Limewire.com site. When I found out that I had gotten it from a scam site, I uninstalled it and downloaded the version directly from Limewire.

The scam sites frequently load their "free software" up with spyware. Limewire has never had spyware, at least not from Limewire itself.

LW 4.8.1 did not have spyware. Only spyware programs that aren't designed properly & can cater for p2p sharing programs should be used to detect spyware. Unfortunately, many spyware programs think the magnet links within LW are spyware. Even M$'s spyware program made this mistake until they updated it to cater for it. duh! Get a decent spyware program such as Spybot - Search & Destroy (FREE) & of course ad-ware (FREE) A spykiller program forum has noted that the majority of spyware programs on the market don't work properly. It highly recommended the above. LW removed any trace of adware, etc before version 4.
