Installation problems...

I have been using LimeWire for about 2 years now and have downloaded over 1,000 files (rough estimate) and it has been, for the most part, trouble free. Just in case anything were to happen, I never leave LimeWire loaded on my computer. Whenever I use it I always uninstall LimeWire. I leave the link to install it in my documents, so when I come back it takes like 2 minutes to install and all my files are there. Well just recently that little link got deleted off my computer and when I went to LimeWire.com to attempt to download the 4.9 version, it threw up an error message about a source file.

"C:\DOCUME~1\TREYEL~1\LOCALS~1\TEMP\g0v4smnr.e xe could not be saved because the source file could not be read.

Try again or contact the service administrator."

Well, I tried and tried and tried again, but it still won't work. Some things you should know, if you're interested:

C:\DOCUME~1\TREYEL~1\LOCALS~1\TEMP\g0v4smnr.exe

C:\ = Local Disk C Drive
DOCUME~1\ = Documents and Settings
TREYEL~1\ = My name, hey guys.
LOCALS~1\ = The file named "Locals"
TEMP\ = The file named "TEMP"

That final part, the mess of words and numbers is strange to me. Every attempt I make to download LimeWire, that mess of words and numbers will change. I'm not sure if it matters, but if does let me know about it and I will send you whatever it says. If you guys could help me out, that would be great. Thanks in advance and Happy Holidays.

Try downlding the "Offline" installer version http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml

Nope, already tried that. I have also tried to download Kazaa and BearShare. Basically, from what info I have gathered, anything that has to be downloaded onto my computer will make that same error message pop up. Thanks though.

Check your system over then using whatever utilities you have. See if there's a missing dll file or if there's a system or HDD issue. Also check to make sure your installshield drivers are up to date. There's a sticky at the top of this section about installshield errors & driver updaters.

Thanks again man. Sorry about missing that thread. Can you explain what exactly, or where exactly I can find those DLL or HDD files? I am a little lost when it comes to things like this.

I found I was missing or had an out of date dll file so I googled it & found out a site that offered just that file for downld. I'm fairly certain it was Norton Utilities which told me about it.

As far as InstallShield goes, this might affect programs like Bearshare, kazaa & Java but shouldn't directly affect LW because LW now uses a different type of installer. But it's worth checking these installengines for installshield are up to date; http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...403#post108403

Some utilities you might find handy can be found here in the downlds section: See NorbiesWorld (click on link) You may even consider asking Norbie what the problem is. I asked a similar question however & he refused to give me an answer (despite a few replies) because my issue involved another issue also. I'm sure he won't be as stuck up for you though.
