This may or may not help, but may I suggest you get Crap Cleaner (click on link) as this will help to clean out your registry. It's FREE & I found it does a very good job. If Norbie recommends it, then that's a plus!

BTW if you still have a problem after that, then get Norbie to help sort it out. ie: post about the java installation problem on his forum.
