Question Application Error on Opening

I am continuing to get an application error when I try to open LimeWire. The application error reads: "The instructions at 0x1ffd9b28 referenced memory at 0x1ffd9b28. The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate. Click on Cancel to debug." I have tried to check the version of the limewire.exe file, but when I right click on the file and go to Properties, there is no version tab. I've downloaded and installed all the Install Shield .msi upgrades, but I still cannot get the program to open after reinstalling. Any suggestions? I'm running Windows XP and on AOL. I even tried changing compatablities to Windows 2000, without success. Help.

Patty

1. LW does "not" use Installshield! Not since over a year ago.

2. AOL security has a program called PestPatrol which is a spyware program but it doesn't work properly with LW. It will damage it. Either disable/uninstall PP & get a better utility, or put LW on its exception list. Better spyware programs are these 1. ad-ware (FREE), & also 2. Spybot - Search & Destroy (FREE)

3. Reinstall LW & try again. Hopefully this was your problem.

LOR, THANK you! That was the conflict! I uninstalled AOL's spyware program. I've always used AdAware and Spybot, since their inception, and keep TeaTimer updated all the time, so I don't need another resident spyware program running in the background. Got LimeWire up and running thanks to you!
