paid version expiration I bought Pro version 4.26.0001 about a year or so ago. Soon after, I was able to freely upgrade to 4.8.1. Very recently, I had to reinstall my entire pc (Windows XP pro). I installed the 4.26.001 copy that I bought, went to the Limewire website to get the 4.8.1 version. It turns out that, even though I have the same email address, Limewire no longer recognizes my email address as valid. Therefore, I can't get the version 4.8.1 that I am entitled to. Is this typical of Limewire's treating of paying customers? ALSO, I keep getting this annoying message (upon Limewire startup) that a new version (that I must pay for) is available. I am content with not upgrading to the MOST RECENT version. I perceive this a Limewire crippling my version which I paid for. Is this typical of Limewire's treating of paying customers? This all seems very shodding and disrespectful to me. I hope a Limewire admin sees this posting and responds. Otherwise, my money is going elsewhere next time. Andrew |
yes - it is a strange business model. |
It was my understanding when I read the sign-up info that you were paying for a lifetime program with 6 MONTHS of FREE updates. I could be wrong but I will check. I guess cause you were past the 6 months and only had the older version onhand is why this happening.I guess this is hte case and would be legit but kinda crappy.Well I was just looking at the page and it says something like free "updates" for 6 months after purchase.....I guess if it updates after that youre out. |
Just curious when you normally by software on line and download it from a web site do you not burn a back up copy to disk. It is your right and responsibility. LimeWire Pro can no longer be purchased on disk so there is no other option than creating you own disk. Anyway I do agree their should be some way of getting a copy of 4.8.1 from LimeWire but to my knowledge there is not. The only options you have is to either PM morfel at this link. Which I do not know will do any good. https://www.gnutellaforums.com/members/mformel.html or pay for the current version of Pro. |
Upgrading Problems I purchased PRO some time ago. Am I to understand that I only get upgrades/updates 6 months from date of purchase? |
DJLenny Yes, you only get 6 months worth of updates/upgrades from date of purchase, which is similar to only getting 12 months worth of AV updates from date of registration for my Norton AV. You see, nothing is or last forever and to expect the LW org to give you updates for infinity is either naive or selfish. Do yourself a favour, backup the software/applications you download that way you won't be caught out again. UK Bob |
Thanks Thanks. I wish I had known that from the beginning. I'll remember it next time. I'll just have to buy the upgrade. |
