LimeWire Launcher Error

I keep getting a window popup that says "LimeWire was unable to load the Java Runtime Environment. Please download and install new version from http://www.java.com" I uninstalled limewire once and this happened so i re-installed and uninstalled again and this window will not go away. any ideas on how to get rid of it?

wondering why June 11th, 2006 01:29 PM

I think you need to update your Java
http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
Use the offline install

Another....Limewire Launcher Error

thanks for the help 'wondering why', I went to this page and updated java....http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp. now I have a new message that says "limewire was unable to load. Please download and install Limewire again" I did download and install and during install it says there is an older version of limewire so it must abort or retry. there is no version that I can find and my comp. will not allow me to access the task manager from the bottom toolbar to see if it is secretly running. Anybody have any ideas? Please share, Thanks!

If you're using Windows XP there is another folder or two under your name in
"C:\Documents and Settings\your name\.limewire" and maybe
"C:\Documents and Settings\your name\Application Data\Limewire"
Delete those too.

Also, to access Task Manager in Windows, just hold down the Control and Alt
keys while pressing the Delete key. That should always work unless you have a
virus or somethiong like that.

AaronWalkhouse June 13th, 2006 07:03 PM

So, you're using Windows,
control-alt-delete doesn't work,
and you didn't find Limewire where I described or in "Program Files"?

Stay in this thread please. It's hard to keep track in a busy place like this. :p

bdowning2006 June 14th, 2006 07:02 PM

using win xp, and no my ctrl-alt-del doesn't work. i did find it in the program files but it wouldn't let me delete the .exe file. i finally got my computer to boot to safe mode and got rid of the files there. then i restarted and haven't had a problem since, except not being able to access task mgr

AaronWalkhouse June 14th, 2006 07:17 PM

If you can't access Task Manager you probably have a trojan or virus.
Download this, run it and post the list it makes: [StartupList]

bdowning2006 June 14th, 2006 07:19 PM

the link you gave opens a dead page, it doesn't do anything

AaronWalkhouse June 14th, 2006 07:21 PM

Whoops. Old link. Hold on…

AaronWalkhouse June 14th, 2006 07:24 PM

[StartupList]

AaronWalkhouse June 14th, 2006 07:27 PM

Run that, let it finish, then go to the File menu, "Copy to Clipboard" and paste the list here.

bdowning2006 June 14th, 2006 07:29 PM

what am I suppose to find in this list? and what do I need to do?

AaronWalkhouse June 14th, 2006 07:38 PM

Paste it here.

bdowning2006 June 14th, 2006 07:39 PM

it won't let me paste it here

AaronWalkhouse June 14th, 2006 07:41 PM

…and if the forum software says the message is too long, go to StartupList's Options menu, turn off all the check marks and try again.

AaronWalkhouse June 14th, 2006 07:42 PM

…the new version of StartupList can get a bit too detailed. ;]

bdowning2006 June 16th, 2006 07:10 AM

my task manager finally opened but I have a question....svchost.exe is open 4-5 times, is it suppose to be? and what is it?

AaronWalkhouse June 16th, 2006 07:52 PM

That thing is the part of Windows which runs services. If you want to see them
in detail go to the Control Panel, start Administrative Tools and double-click on Services.

Help Me!

I have like the same problem ok well different I'll start from the start!

So here's how it started and I am pretty stupid with comps virsus and files so please make it simple.

Ive had limewire for along time and one day I decided to download a program..BIG MISTAKE! I got this f*ck virus that wont go away. It would launch limewire like everysecond so I uninstalled limewire thinking HA if its not there it cant open it. WRONG AGAIN! First a windows error kept launching saying Limewire wont load please download and install again and every time I closed the box it would reopen in less then a minute! So I searched online and everything and apprently its got something to do with java so I unistalled that and now the message error comes up with a java box.

Its so confusing PLEASE help me get rid of it! I have virus scanners and everything and they remove the virus but it still trys to load WITHOUT limewire ahhhhh!!!! MY GOD I NEVER WANT LIMEWIRE AGAIN! thank god its being closed down and sued along with kaza, the amount of problems it causes is annoying and ruins peoples computers!

Lord of the Rings October 5th, 2006 01:55 AM

Go to Norbie's site, register, & follow his directions very carefully & he will solve it. He is an expert!!! The 'entire' forum recommends him. ;) :) NorbiesWorld (click on link) (BTW he is in UK time so be patient & don't forget to confirm your email, etc. in the follow up email from the forums. ;))

Demon Demonic October 5th, 2006 02:12 AM

Thank you Lord of the Rings fan (You should see the movie clerks 2) and sorry to sound rude but i am so SICK of signing up to multiple websites and stuff just to post or read a simple message. God havnt people heard of making things SIMPLE!!!

And I bet viruses are created by the anti virus companys so they can make money, nobody else would bother sitting at home like a bored loser to infect peoples computers. The internet was only created like 10 years ago.
