Limewire Won't Start

I have Limewire 4.12.3, it was working perfectly fine till about a few days ago. I tried to open it,and the little lime came up that said loading interface & all that stuff, then it just disappeared. I feel like I've tried every method possible from reading the other threads but nothing has worked. Will somebody PLEASE help me out here,I feel like I'm going insane trying to get this program to work for me.

You need to tell people what fixes you've tried that didn't work!

Did you remove your old Java version & reinstall using the offline installer?

Did you try deleting the preferences folder (with LW closed)?

Did you try reinstalling LW with the offline installer?

Did you make sure that no antispyware was preventing LW from opening (add LW to the list of exceptions/allowed apps)?

I, too, am totally frustrated!

I, too, cannot get Limewire to load. I have had this problem before, and had to reset my computer to a previous time to get it to open. Also, I have not been able to update Limewire to the latest basic version. Everytime I try, I get a file corrupt message and/or that another version is running. So today I decided to completely uninstall Limewire and start over, hoping to get the latest version and thus solve the won't load problem. So now I have Limewire downloaded and installed (no problems), but, like you, when I click on the desktop icon (or, for that matter go to the root directory to start the program) the interface opens and then disappears. No error messages, nothing. So, of course, no update. This is so frustrating to have to repeat, repeat, repeat and get nowhere. I'd like help, too!!

Birdy I tried all of those methods, but none of them have solved the problem.

YoungBR,
Have you tried changing compatibility to Win2000 or NT? It's point 5 in the 'fixes for LW' in my earlier post.

ldyj,
When you reinstalled LW, did you use the online or offline installer? Did you update your Java? Did you try deleting the preferences folder? If not, there are links for all of these in my earlier post... give it a try. If nothing works, you could also try changing compatibility.

Yeah I tried all of those methods.

Everything done except. . .

Yes, Birdy, I have done all that you suggested except for removing the LimeWire preference folder which, after a thorough search of my computer, I can't find. And, as far as I'm concerned, this is all beside the point. Why am I having problems with a program that ran quite well for almost a week, and this is the third time it's ran about that long before failing - in the past I've rest my computer to an earlier time, but I just want this to stop this time! There must be something wrong with the program, or I'm doing something wrong that I don't see. More help here, please :) !
