uninstalling limewire my sister stupidly downloaded limewire 4.10 and uninstalled it by going to start>mycomputer>add/remove programs now we get that bugs@limewire message and it starts over and over again how do i fix this with out deleteing major files  |
Install LW again. It will try to uninstall the previous version. If it can' t do so, then you might need to use CCleaner to remove the rest of the old installation. http://www.ccleaner.com/download/ Besides, it is anyway a good program to clean up your computer and it's free.....:D http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1.../Smilywais.gif |

Go to Tools and choose LW. First try "Run Uninstall" if you get an error message, then choose "Delete Entry", and then after you've done so, restart the computer and try to re-install LW.......that should do it. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1.../Smilywais.gif |
i can't re-install limewire and it isn't there when i got to tools the only thing that is there is learn2player and i don't know what that is |
Reinstalling LW will normally uninstall any previous version. Else, you can go to the Start menu > Programs > LimeWire > Uninstall. Yes using the add/remove control panel can cause problems. BTW did you use CCleaner as recommended? It's a very good utility! Clean up your registry & then try reinstalling LW. CCleaner will give you a list of out of date or unused/obsolete registries. No point having junk sitting around your system. Besides it can potentially cause problems as may have happened to you. |
You mean when being in CCleaner>Tools there is no entry of LW?? Did you try to re-install LW as mentioned in my reply above?? What happened? Regarding the learn3player, I reckon uninstalling it. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1.../Smilywais.gif |
should i start in safemode and delete the limewire file and then reinstall it . if i do this will it harm my pc |
1 Attachment(s) Did you try uninstalling LW from the start menu? Attachment 2628 |
i can't because my sister uninstalled it from add/remove so it isn't on the start menue |
You could try getting the "Other" LW version listed at the bottom of the LW downloads. All you do is unzip & use. If it won't work, then you'll need to give CCleaner a total run thru of cleaning up your system. See Here about other version. |
but would it work if i could just go into safemode |
Same problem Hi, I've been having the exact same problem. I uninstalled Limewire by going to start/menu/limewire/uninstall, rather than the add/remove route. However, I'm having the same problems. I've installed Ccleaner, as suggested. However, like the other user, when I go to tools, and try to find limewire, it is not there. I've also tried installing another version of Limewire, however, it will not let me install. Instead, a message appears, saying "an older version is still running, delete this first" etc. Any suggestions? The original limewire files are still present where I first downloaded it, however, I can't manually delete them, an error message appears... Help! |
Open your Task Manager (crlt & alt + delete -one time) and go to the Processes Tab; look whether the limewire.exe is running. If so, force the process to end, then try to install LW again. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1.../Smilywais.gif |
Woah! Great suggestion.... For some reason though, my computer isn't letting me do ctrl.alt.del.... Which is really worrying.... My computer is functioning just fine, but it won't let me do that... Ok...is it possible that limewire has gone crazy and is doing this? Is there another reason ctrl.alt.del is having NO effect, for the first time since i bought my laptop 6 months ago?!?! AND, task manager doesn't respond even when I right-click the taskbar, and then select "Task Manager" from there.... |
*hyperventilate* I've also tried right clicking on the taskbar, and then clicking "Task Manager", but it doesn't appear when I press it.... |
Yes, a worm/trojan/ virus.........you can google for it ("Can't open Task Manager" as search query). If you can't get rid of it, go here and register for free. Norbie will tell you what to do after you've posted the Hijackthis log: http://norbiesworld.co.uk/computerhelp http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1.../Smilywais.gif |
will someone just anser if i started in safe mode i cannot go to task manager so then could i delete LW and then start up normaly go to E.G LW.com download it and see if it works |
If you can't start your Task Manager then you've most likely a worm or trojan hidding in your system, as I have suggested in the answer above. So, follow my advice and then try installing LW again. Otherwise you should answer questions asked by me in the other posts (but yet not answered from you) to help you further. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1.../Smilywais.gif |
