Trying to Burn film onto dvd

Hi There
I have downloaded a film from limewire which plays fine in Windows Media Player but when I go to burn it this message come up
"Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file."
What does this mean???
Thanks

CODECs list and alternate players for Movies. I'm not so sure WMP has the ability to burn video dvd's anyway. Most people get a dedicated burner program such as nero or roxio or another. WMP is something that M$ puts on all their operating systems & it's really not very good, but it's all many windows users know. lol :D
