Can't get it to work!

I've tried downloading the basic version of LimeWire about 10 times - each time, it looks like its downloaded successfully but then when I go to double-click on the icon on the desktop, nothing happens. I've gone into the application's profile and it says the file is only about 150Kb which is way too small for this application!! I was wondering whether my Norton Antivirus software was stopping part of it downloading, so I disabled that but it didn't seem to help. I've tried both options for downloading LimeWire on Windows, including the backup installer mentioned on this forum. Nothing works!!!

Any ideas anyone??
Thanks,
Fay

Download the "Offline" installer which is the 2nd on the list (not the recommended one.)

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I have already tried that - no luck!

or

have fun.....i personally love bearshare way better than limewire....(no offense to ppl who like limewire)its just my opinion.

P.S. it looks like bearshare finds more sources!:)

exact same thing is happening to me, I'm thinking the newest version might be a little bugged on the downloading aspect.

I have just tried looking for somewhere to download Bearshare Lite from. The PC World link in your reply doesn't seem to be a valid page anymore. I have found some other sites where it offers 'free download' but then it turns out it actually costs so much a month for the program. Is there not an actually free version out there??

Try using a different browser to download the program. I'm sure you have more than one, otherwise you're in the extreme minority. Be it firefox or another, try another browser program. ;) :)

BTW if you want to know BS answers then visit the stickies in the BS forums. :)

Delete your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.)

Then open the program from the program folder, which depending upon where you installed it is usually
C:\Program files\Limewire\Limewire
If it works then delete the shortcuts & recreate them.
