Start up problem

My limewire will not start up. I clicked the icon and the limewire logo starts then closes again. I reinstalled it, I reinstalled Java, Ive done basically everything and it still wont work!

Go to the program folder & try opening the program directly instead of using the shortcuts. If it opens, then recreate the shortcuts for desktop & start menu. If it doesn't open, then try steps 3 & 5 here Fixes for Limewire. It might be worthwhile rebooting after step 3 just in case.

more of the same

I'm having the same problem as the thread starter. I have tried all the items from the "fix limewire" thread to no avail. Also tried all the downloads (recomended, full download, and other). Still all I get is the splash screen. Have CCleaner and checked for any registry problems. Ran virus scan and spyware scan. :bangh:

If you've tried updating Java, deleting preferences, changing compatibility & reinstalling LW...make sure that you're not having a conflict between a security program & LW. Are you using any antisypware or security programs that might be seeing LW as a threat & so not allowing it to open?

Make sure that LW's on the list of exceptions/allowed apps of any antispyware etc.

Is this a new problem with an experienced user, or is this your first try with LW?

Ok now I get an error.

An unexpected error has been detected by HotSpot Virtual Machine:
#
# EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) at pc=0x03e49cdd, pid=3416, tid=3408
#
# Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (1.5.0_09-b03 mixed mode, sharing)
# Problematic frame:
# C [YPCLSP.dll+0x9cdd]

I'm assuming this is a conflict with SBC's parental controlls. Even though my account is "all access" limewire still won't work.I have a 7 and a 14 year old so loosing the PC's is not an option. So I'll just stick with my other P2P's. Alot less headach. Thanks to everyone for trying to help.
