Default Why can't LimeWire just work already??! (Java)

OMG, this is getting old. I have done everything but it still says LimeWire needs Java 5.0 Update click okay to go to Java site and download latest version when I open LimeWire....

I have done EVERYTHING:

1. Have not LimeWire or Java installed, then install LimeWire and use the Java it comes with. Tells me (when installing Java) I have a version of Java installed go to add/remove programs to get of it... I DON'T have Java installed...

2. LimeWire first then Java after. Java installs successfully, LimeWire says the same thing.

3. Same thing as #2 but with the offline Java.

4. Java first then LimeWire. Same thing as #1.

5. Everything else!!!!!!

I just can't get past this message. I searched this forum, read the threads... nothing!

P.S. FrostWire works but then at when I open it nothing happens.

How can I get LimeWire???

Add/remove control panel & remove all versions of Java. Then ...

Install Java 1st; get the "offline" version which is about a 15 MB downld: http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

Then try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.)

Okay so just delete the preferences, not LimeWire?

When doing C:\Documents and Settings\*yourusername*\Application Data\limewire it says it can't find that. And yes, I'm putting my username.

It depends when you started using LW. If you started using LW more than say 12 months ago (LW 4.9 or earlier) then step 2 will be the one to use. If later, then step 3 should be the one to use. But be sure to show "hidden" files & folders otherwise you won't find it in a search. Sample image here http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showpo...32&postcount=4

I started a few days ago. I did step three and that is what happened.

Hmm ... go to start menu > Programs > LW > uninstall.

Download the "other" version: Download ‘Other’ version & simply unzip & use!. I presume you have Java already installed now right? If it is, it will be listed in the add/remove programs control panel.
