Keeps trying to install itself Alright, LimeWire just started acting up today. When I first logged in the the computer, LimeWire kept trying to install itself over and over, and the two anti-virus softwares i'm using say I have many Trojan-Horse viruses in the system32 folder. I've run Spy Sweeper and Trend Micro Antivirus countless times, and they keep reappearing. I even tried uninstalling LimeWire, but now it just gets erros when it tries to install. The virus is in a file called "p2pnetwork.exe," which I can't seem to find. No Spyware, No Adware, No Trojan Horse, Just Pure File Sharing? I don't think so. |
See LimeWire continually Popping up & also Opening at System Startup (click on link) |
Nothing worked, virus still there. Thanks a lot. And why is customer support only for LimeWire PRO users, what, so if someone gets a virus, "it's not our problem, we can't help you. Just have your computer ruined, we don't care." Thanks a million, LimeWire. |
Whoa...you get pretty good support here, it's free & you don't have to wait for an email reply. To be fair, it's not LimeWire's fault that you got infected...if you're not scanning downloaded files before you open them, whose fault is that?? No Gnutella client can control what's shared across the network, it's up to the user to be responsible for their computer's security. Did you try the fix in point 5 of the link that LOTR gave? That has worked for quite a few people. |
I have barely downloaded anything, maybe 7-8 songs, and I have 2 virus protection programs that are always running. At least you can get some decent support here -_-I'll go back and try #5 again, see what happens. *EDIT* Problem was I didn't reboot to Safe Mode, apparently. Virus is gone, works fine now. Thanks! :) |
